Meeting held

Meeting was
called to
order
approximately
1315 hours.
Important to

summary in
its
entirety, a
number of
key issues
where
discussed,
voted on and
accepted.
The length
of this
report is
not to
intended to
bore anyone,
it is
presented in
the hopes it
will bring
everyone
current on
what is
happening
with your
ALR at
American
Legion Post
251.
We welcomed
aboard new
members,
Michael
and Sally
Hendrick.

A quick
review of
last months,
July meeting
minutes,
where
accepted and
approved.
Well not
confirmed,
it is
rumored that
Airshow will
take on a
new road
name, Sally?
Looking for
confirmation
on this
item.
Legacy
Fund Poker
Run:
Turn out was
less than
expected/anticipated.
The
following is
a break down
of the funds
collected:
$240.00
Poker
Hands
$ 30.00
T-shirt
Sales
Don Lowery
was high
hand winner,
with a
flush. The
prize for
high hand
was $50.00,
Don donated
it back to
Legacy Fund.
The low
hand payout
was $40.00,
do not know
at this time
the name of
the winner.
Therefore
the Legacy
Fund Poker
Run netted
$200.00. We
also need to
acknowledge
Bob Casey
for
supplying us
with copies
of the
flier, and
the
registration
form.
The ALR
also needs
to thank the
members of
our Post who
purchased
poker hands,
above all
we, with out
exception,
need to
personally
acknowledge
and thank
‘Bear’,
a.k.a. Jerry
Jones. Bear
has
consistently
supported
our efforts
over the
years. I
think it
would be
appropriate
to ask our
Web-mistress,
if she
could/would
created a
certificate
of
appreciation
that we can
present to
Bear, at the
Post
meeting, a
token of our
appreciation
of his
contribution
and support
of the ALR
activities.
Note:
Support Our
Troops
flag was not
auctioned
off. It
will be
auctioned
off on Ebay.
Accompanying
the flag
will be a
framed
picture [by
none other
than Cat] of
the troops
who signed
the flag.
The
ALR of Post
251 will be
presenting a
check in the
amount of
$1000.00 to
Bob Brown
for the
Legacy
Fund. Check
will be
given to Bob
at the Post
meeting on
11-August-09.
NOTE:
Bob and
Martha Brown
will be
departing on
16-August-2009
for their
first leg of
the Legacy
Fund Run.
We will be
escorting
Bob and
Martha to
Chattanooga
, Tennessee
. We will
meet at the
Post at 0600
hours, with
kick stands
up at 0630
hours. This
is a rain or
shine
event.
Come with
gas tanks
full and
ready to
go. The
first and
only stop
will be at
approximately
the 100 mile
mark, for
gas.
Once we part
company in
Chattanooga
, we will
spend a few
hours there,
with the
next stop
being the
National
Cemetery in
Canton ,
Ga.

be attending
MMI in
Orlando ,
Florida .
Therefore he
will be
stepping
down on
01-Jan-2010
[note this
date may be
moved up to
September,
if he can
get an
earlier
enrollment
at MMI].
The
following
changes in
officer
appointments,
having been
voted on and
approved by
a majority
of members
present;
Airshow,
[a.k.a. Jim
Eubanks]
will assume
the position
of Director,
Sherry
Curtis will
be our new
Sergeant at
Arms.
Please note,
while soft
spoken she
is a belt
holder in
Karate.
2] We have
been given
column space
in the Post
newsletter;
articles
will be
written by,
the
Director.
Since the
Commander
and
Adjutant,
SAL, 40/8,
and Ladies
Aux officers
have their
pictures
preceding
their
respective
columns,
would assume
that our
Director
will do
likewise.
3] For the
2010 Polar
Bear Run, we
will have
embroidered
patches [so
to speak]
made, which
can be sewn
below the
original
Polar Bear
Patch. Said
patches will
be designed
to fit
length wise
of the
original
Polar Bear
Patch, and
approximately
.75” in
height.
More on this
when cost
etc., are
compiled.
4] It was
voted on and
approved to
produce 120
[minimum]
pictures of
the troops
that signed
the flag,
and send the
pictures to
Alex [Son of
Eric and
Cat,
currently in
Kuwait ] and
let him
distribute
the pictures
to his
fellow
troopers
that signed
the flag.
There will
be some
extra
pictures
that will be
put up for
sale at the
Post.
5] American
Legion
Riders flag:
approved by
a majority
present, an
American
Legion
Riders flag
will be
purchased
and sent to
Col. Hofman.
The flag
will have
sewn on the
Charter
Member and
Georgia Post
251
rockers.
The rockers
have been
secured, and
are being
held by
Richard
Farnum, they
have yet to
be paid
for. The
flag will be
ordered from
American
Legion
Emblem
Sales.
Upcoming
